Marriage Killers

#9
QUIZ: The major contributors to divorce are:
  1. Sexual preferences
  2. Cheating
  3. Disagreements about children
  4. Communications and save-vs-spend outlook
  5. Boredom
Men and women are brought up in different cultures and communicate in very different ways, leading to misunderstandings and loss of trust in the relationship. Deborah Tannen points out that from earliest childhood boys-then-men engage in “play-fighting”, whereas girls-then-women share “trouble stories” to gain status, as one example.

Similarly, joining a money-saver personality with a money-spender personality is like oil and water. Won’t work in the long run. Young men and women both tend to opt for the short-term shallow choice, not look for true soul-mates.

Answer: #4 - Communications and save-vs-spend outlook

Interesting, I have heard this before. I would be curious to know the statistics of marriages and relationships that end due to financial disagreements. I would say that it is not the VAST majority as there are so many reasons that relationships do not work out. So I would question if it is like 50% or higher.

This one was interesting because I would guess that options 1-4 are all major reasons why couples divorce. Financials is always a big one, and differences in raising children can be a big factor too. Communication is certainly an important factor in every healthy relationship so I can see why the answer is 4. This is a good one.
